The gala saw top A-listers such as Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift and Margot Robbie come out for the affair.

The Golden Globes officially start off the 2024 awards season, and the televised programme, which airs on January 7, sets off a whole new year of jaw-dropping red-carpet couture. The presentation, which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night and was the first formal awards show after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, was glitzy. The evening’s fascination was not just in the expectation of victors; it was also in the dazzling display of fashion that captivated hearts and headlines alike. The red carpet was turned into a runway of dreams as sequins glittered and dramatic shapes took the main stage.
This year’s Golden Globes ceremony, hosted by comedian Jo Koy, saw the top-nominated movie Barbie lose out in the major categories, while Oppenheimer secured wins for Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, and Best Director for Christopher Nolan.
Some of the most head-turning fashion moments of the evening? They came from stars such as Margot Robbie, who continued to lean into Barbie style with her sequined pink Armani gown and tulle stole. Red also proved to be the hue of the night: Danielle Brooks shined in her Old Hollywood Moschino look (also complete with a dramatic stole), as well as Julianne Moore, who chose a structural and strapless design by Bottega Veneta.
As the red carpet unfolded, it became more than a precursor to the awards; it became a canvas where stars painted their stories through fabric, colour, and design. The 81st Golden Globes red carpet was not just a parade of stunning looks; it was a celebration of individuality, creativity, and the enduring magic of Hollywood.
SELENA GOMEZ
Nominee Selena Gomez radiated joy on the red carpet, and rightfully so, in a vibrant red Giorgio Armani dress with an asymmetrical hemline. The dress featured black rosette-accented cutouts, perfectly paired with patent leather Christian Louboutin pumps and adorned with plenty of Bulgari diamonds.

BARRY KEOGHAN
Barry Keoghan made a bold statement in a stunning custom Louis Vuitton ensemble. His outfit from the Spring-Summer 2024 collection featured a red wool evening jacket in heritage Damier, paired with sharp red tailored trousers and a crisp white rounded-collar shirt adorned with pearl buttons. Keoghan’s accessory game was on point, including a chic golden belt chain, a pearl necklace, and Tiffany & Co. earrings.

BILLIE EILISH
Billie Eilish attended the 81st Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. She made a stylish statement on the red carpet, wearing a Willy Chavarria skirt set with thrifted Mary Jane shoes. The 22-year-old singer accessorised her look with an oversized black blazer, a light blue Peter Pan collar shirt, and Anita Ko jewellery. Eilish’s outfit was a trendy and cool-girl take on the red carpet, and she completed her look with a beige pleated skirt and a ribbon. During her acceptance speech for her award, she thanked her brother Finneas, her co-star Margot Robbie, and the film’s creators.

JENNIFER LOPEZ
Jennifer Lopez presented a captivating sight in a custom rosette-covered Nicole + Felicia Couture gown and Maison Boucheron jewels. While Affleck played the role of a presenter, it was Lopez who nearly stole the show with her impeccable sense of style and grace.

MARGOT ROBBIE
Margot Robbie, known for her bold fashion choices, rocked the red carpet in a hot pink sequin Giorgio Armani Privé gown, complete with a feather boa. This Barbie-inspired look, a nod to the 1977 SuperStar Barbie’s 50th anniversary, showcased Robbie’s commitment to fashion creativity.

TIMOTHÉE CHALAMET
Nominee Timothée Chalamet turned heads in a Celine Homme by Hedi Slimane embroidered jacket, worn over black top and pants, paired with Chelsea boots. While he posed for pictures solo on the red carpet, inside, he shared a memorable moment, sitting next to and sharing a kiss with Kylie Jenner, adding a touch of unexpected excitement to the star-studded evening.

DUA LIPA
Dua Lipa graced the event as both a presenter and a nominee for Best Original Song, donning a bespoke black velvet Schiaparelli dress. The dress was adorned with a sequence of golden “bones” on the bodice, complemented by a billowy bustle skirt. Her look was further elevated with a Tiffany & Co. necklace from 1962, highlighting her unique and trendsetting approach to fashion.

TAYLOR SWIFT
Taylor Swift embodied the essence of her highly awaited rerelease “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” She dazzled in a sparkly snake-green dress complemented by multiple pieces from De Beers and green leather Christian Louboutin pumps.
